Homework is a bummer. You have to sit in class all day long and then spend all night completing the homework. When it comes to dealing with programming homework, there are some things that you want to make sure that you do because if you get distracted, you will likely have to start all over. This type of homework takes a lot of concentration and in order to get it done, you need to make sure that you are prepared. Here are the dos and the don’ts of dealing with programming homework.
You need a quiet space that is free of noise distractions to do your homework. When you are in the middle of reading the text and solving the problems, any little distraction could cause you to get lost and have to start over or it will just make it take even longer than it already will.
You want to work on a clean desk and not a messy one. Clear everything off of the desk except what you are working on. You will also want to work at a desk instead of on your bed. When you work in bed, you are likely to get tired easier and when you start to get tired, it is harder to get your work done.
This is something that you are told to do and that a lot of students take as a free homework pass. It is vital that you read the text for this class. You will not be able to grasp everything from just a lecture in school and you won’t be able to retain it all either. By reading about it, hearing about it, seeing it on paper and on the board, and then working with it, you will be able to learn it easier and faster.
Get your assignments done as soon as possible even if it isn’t due for a few days. There is a reason why you have been given that long to do the assignment and it isn’t because your instructor wants you to start it the day before it is due.
If you don’t understand something, ask for help. You are only going to make things worse if you decide to let it go and hope you figure out the next thing because it will likely build on the concept before it and then you may be too far behind to catch up.
